Hi friend,
This week has been a humbling one for me. I’ve been sitting with the word obedience and what it truly looks like to walk in step with God—not just in the big, bold decisions, but in the small, daily ones that no one else sees.
If I’m being honest, I’ve been asking God a lot of why questions lately. Why this season? Why the waiting? Why does obedience sometimes feel so hard? But as I sat with Jeremiah 29:11, I was reminded of something so powerful:
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
That verse hit differently this week. It reminded me that God’s plans for my life are not random or chaotic—they are intentional, good, and full of hope. Even when I can’t see the full picture, God already has it figured out. My job isn’t to know the details; it’s to trust Him and obey.
Obedience is rarely convenient, though. It means surrendering my need for control and saying, “Lord, I trust You, even when I don’t understand.” This past week, I’ve felt God nudging me to revisit goals I’d quietly given up on and to pause on things I was trying to rush. It’s not always what I want to hear, but obedience means trusting that His way is better.
Here’s what I’m learning about obedience right now:
It’s a daily decision: Obedience doesn’t happen in one grand moment; it’s built in the little decisions to listen to God’s voice each day.
It stretches your faith: Often, obedience means stepping into the unknown. That’s where faith grows, even when it’s uncomfortable.
It leads to peace: When I align with God’s plan, I find a peace that reminds me I’m exactly where I need to be, even if it doesn’t all make sense yet.
What’s helping me stay grounded this week:
Starting my day with surrender: I’ve been asking God to guide my day, open doors that align with His will, and close the ones that aren’t for me.
Meditating on Jeremiah 29:11: This verse has been a constant reminder that God knows what He’s doing, even when I don’t.
Writing down what I’m grateful for: Gratitude keeps me focused on what God is doing rather than what I think He’s not.
How About You?
Is there an area where God is asking you to trust Him and obey? Maybe it’s something you’ve been avoiding, or maybe it’s a new direction you’re scared to step into. I want to encourage you to lean into His promises, especially Jeremiah 29:11. He knows the plans He has for you—they’re good, even if the journey feels uncertain right now.
As I go into this new week, I’m praying for courage to keep trusting Him and walking in obedience, step by step. I hope you’ll join me in doing the same. And if there’s a specific area where you need prayer, let me know—I’d love to stand with you.
I created a new Spotify playlist called Quiet Time Companion. I hope this playlist helps you stay longer in the presence of Abba.

Talk soon,
Your friend in Christ. Bolaji
I was just reading Proverbs 3 and the beginning was talking about trusting in God with all your heart and leaning not on your understanding which can seem difficult to do now that I can think of it and I just remembered that you posted a new write-up. I was like “let me check it cause I think Bolaji wrote on obedience” and lo and behold, it was on Obedience.
Thank you so much for explaining it like this. I really learnt a lot.
